A Journey of History, Art, Architecture, Literature, Politics and Religion

You are invited to discover and embrace the concept of PILGRIMAGE through an enchanted land of time and place. This year’s travels were inspired by the prayer of Dean Robert Willis:
Almighty and Everlasting God, you have made our County of Kent throughout the history of this nation to be both a symbol of the strong defence of its sovereignty and also a sign of its welcome to those who journey here. We give you heartfelt thanks for the abiding beauty of his ‘Garden of England’, of marsh, down and weald, dockyard and Medway town, white cliff and pilgrim way, and pray that the daily life and work of our communities may demonstrate an equal beauty in the welfare, development and care of every member. Bless this county and prosper with your grace all its creative endeavors, that in their upholding of truth, justice and liberty its people may ever remain ‘Invicta’ – Unconquered – an encouragement of service to our nation and a beacon of hope for all humanity, through Jesus Christ of Lord. Amen
On the occasion of my thirtieth pilgrimage, I allowed these vibrant words to guide our ten-day journey as a way to truly encounter the people and places who make Canterbury and the County of Kent dramatic and breathtaking, yet unique the world-over. Each setting will allow for an experience not only of learning but also of tranquility…a respite from the frantic pace of modern life…and a chance to joyously laugh with kindred souls!
Come explore: Ancient Places tied to St Augustine; vineyards and forests of the Tudor Kings; Laughter in country-‐pubs and seaside villages; Medieval Prophets and Pilgrim sites at Chaldon, West Malling, Chilham and Barfreston; The Great Country-‐houses and Gardens of Kent at Penshurst Place, Walmer Castle, and Churchill’s Chartwell House; Chagall Glass in Tudeley; RAF Folkestone Museum and the White Cliffs of Dover; intimate experiences to explore Art, Architecture and Worship with the scholars and parishioners of our mother-‐cathedral; Baptismal Renewal at the oldest parish church in England; as well as people and events in and around the Cathedral city of Canterbury during Kings’ Week.

*Please note this pilgrimage is priced at $4200 as an all inclusive package of everything except air-travel and insurance. This trip is based on double-occupancy, but singles may be accommodated upon sign-up. This itinerary includes $300 tax-deductible donation to Canterbury Cathedral.
