Appeal November 2018

Dear Friends,

I write as a longtime and enthusiastic board member of FOCCUS. I offer two perspectives on our mission together.

First, the Very Reverend Dr. Robert A. Willis, Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, presented a series of eloquent reflections during a forum at Virginia Theological Seminary just a few weeks ago. Dean Willis spoke about the enduring effect of the Scholars’ Program, of which we as FOCCUS members are the chief support.

Second, an American “delegate,” the Reverend Ramona Scarpace, reflects powerfully on her own experience:

This past June 2018, I had the privilege of participating in the Canterbury Scholars Programme at Canterbury Cathedral. The event brought together seminarians and newly ordained clergy from around the world. Together we shared two weeks of intensive prayer, learning, holy listening, and deepening our connections as members of the Anglican Communion. The program was a life-changing event for me, one that I carry with me each day and share with others. I now have new clergy friends from around the globe, and a much deeper understanding of the Anglican Communion.

Canterbury Cathedral is an international treasure, a holy place, and the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion. I am honored to support Canterbury Cathedral and the efforts of FOCCUS.
